How eSIMs work
Setting up an eSIM isn't rocket science. Have any questions? We've got you covered.
How can I get an eSIM?
Select the country of destination, the number of days of your stay and the amount of data you think you will need.
How much data should I choose?
If your day includes Instagram, YouTube, and Zoom, expect to use 2–4 GB of data per week.
When should I install my eSIM?
Set up your eSIM before you leave. Ensure you're connected to Wi-Fi for a quick and simple process.
How do I download an eSIM?
After purchasing an eSIM, you'll receive a QR code. Scan it with your phone and follow the easy steps.
Can I add more data to my eSIM if I ran out?
Yes, you can easily add more data to your eSIM. Just log into your account and click on 'Top up my eSIM'.
How can I monitor my data consumption?
Access your account, navigate to your eSIM, and select details to view your data usage.
What happens when I switch my SIM to an eSIM?
Switching from a SIM to an eSIM is as simple as turning off one light and turning on another.
How many eSIMs can I download?
We recommend using one eSIM at a time and adding more data on the go. While your phone can support multiple eSIMs, it's not typical, much like turning on several light bulbs when you only need one.
Can I reuse an eSIM?
If your eSIM runs out of data and you haven't topped it up in advance, simply choose and purchase a new one.
Can I install the same eSIM on multiple devices?
No, you can’t install the same eSIM on multiple devices.
Can you have two phone numbers in one phone?
Our eSIMs are data-only. You can make calls using WhatsApp or other messaging apps, but they won't assign you a new number. Your phone number will remain the same as your original country's SIM provider.
How do I create an eSIM4Travel account?
Simply log in with your Google account or sign up the usual way. It's straightforward.

Pick the perfect data and duration plan for your trip.
People consume mobile data in many ways throughout the day—browsing the web, using social media, streaming music or videos, using maps, and making video calls.
A light user who mainly checks emails and uses messaging apps may only need around 1–2 GB per week, while a typical traveler using social media, navigation, and occasional video streaming should plan for about 2–5 GB per week.
Heavy users who stream high-definition videos, attend frequent video calls, or use their phone for work should consider 10 GB or more per week. When choosing an eSIM plan, it’s essential to match your digital habits to your expected usage—overestimating a little is better than running out of data abroad.
Once you've made your choice just scan the QR Code we've sent you
We suggest setting up your eSIM before you leave, as a stable internet connection is necessary for installation. Airport networks abroad can be unreliable.
After purchasing a data package from us, you'll receive an email with a link to the QR code. Click the link to access the QR code, scan it with your device's camera, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the eSIM package. For guidance, please visit our Tutorial page.
To scan the QR code, you'll need another device (like a tablet, laptop, or smartphone) to open the URL and display the QR code on its screen. Alternatively, you can ask a friend or someone nearby to take a picture of the QR code, allowing you to scan it with your eSIM device for installation.
Once you landed, go to your eSIM settings
After reaching your destination, access your phone's eSIM settings, enable roaming, and it will seamlessly connect to the local network, allowing you to begin using your plan.

How do I know if my device is eSIM compatible?
To find out if your device is eSIM compatible, you will need to
- check that your device is carrier unlocked
- check that your device supports eSIM
To find out if your iOS device is carrier unlock, go to Settings > General > About. Scroll down to view the “Carrier Lock” section. If you see “No SIM restrictions”, it means your device is unlocked.
For Android devices, go to Settings > About. Scroll down to the ‘Network Unlocked’ section. If you see ‘unlocked’, it means your device is carrier unlocked.
Next, to check whether your device support eSIM, open up your device dial pad, dial the sequence *#06# and press call. It will display information about your device’s EID, IMEI and MEID. If your device supports eSIM, it should have an EID (ESIM Unique Identification) number. If you don’t see an EID number, it means your device does not support eSIM.
Note: The USSD code *#06# works on almost all smartphones.
What is the usage period of my eSIM data package?
The valid period depends on the package you bought eg. 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, etc.
The valid period will start when the eSIM activates by connecting to an allowed network at the destination and you start using data. Depending on your data usage, the valid period can expire early if you use up all your data balance before the end of the valid period.
When should I install the eSIM?
We suggest customers install the eSIM plan they've purchased just before their trip.
After installation is complete, the data package will activate and start the valid usage period once your device connects to an allowed network at destination.
I'm travelling to more than one country, can I purchase an eSIM for each country and install them before my trip?
Absolutely, you can. A key benefit of eSIM is the ability to add and install multiple plans or packages on your device, allowing for easy switching between them. You can also purchase regional plans like Europe or Asia eSIMs to ensure coverage wherever you travel.
